During the first half of my 3rd year at University, I was given a brief named Authorship. The aim of this brief was for us to freely choose what we wanted to do and relate it to who we wanted to be as practitioners. I choose to get back to Graphic Design as this is what I want to do in the future. To do this I picked three sermons by a Portuguese priest and my goal was to create book covers for each one of them. I wanted them to work both as singular books as well as a collection so I created a visual language that would work on the three books while still making sure it was related to my degree (Illustration). I used pattern design that I created by hand drawing illustrations and then using Adobe Illustrator to turn them into vector illustrations. Doing this allowed me to embrace the imperfections from the brush strokes giving more personality to the covers.
